The new SodiumNodes subdomain generator is here: what it is and how it works

Today the new subdomain generator for Minecraft servers made by us at SodiumNodes has been created! This can be useful for simplifying how people connect to your Minecraft server by replacing the numerical IP with the following format:

<your own server name>.<domain by us>

Here are a few examples:

• blazemc.sodn.online
• play.sodn.online
• smp.sodn.online
• test.sodn.online

Please keep in mind that, if you use our subdomain creator, your server will be available to the public. This is because DNS records are public, and we use them to shorten your “server IP”.

How do I use this subdomain generator?

All you need to do to use our subdomain generator is go to this website.

Once you are on that website, you should be presented with a form looking like this:

All you need to do is fill in the form accordingly:

• Name: your server name. The website will automatically verify if a subdomain can be created under the name you specify. If it’s available, a green message box saying “This subdomain is available!” and a button should appear which says “Create Subdomain” should appear. If not, a red error message box will appear saying “This subdomain is already in use.” If you see this, try another name.
• The box next to the name is the subdomain you want to use.
• Points to: this should be your Minecraft server (numerical) IP address.
• Server port: analyze the address you use to connect to your server. It should look something like this: de-01.eu-central.sodiumnodes.org:6767. After the semicolon (:) there is a series of numbers which is 4-5 characters. This is your server port. It can be left blank if you don’t have the colon followed by the numbers (something like de-01.eu-central.sodiumnodes.org) or if your server port is 25565.

Once you have filled in these details appropriately, you can safely click “Create Subdomain” and you should be able to join using your subdomain. If it doesn’t work, wait an hour for the DNS to fully propagate across all regions.
